Acne
Three products for acne-prone skin, from Rs. 1,720 — a 2% salicylic acid face wash, a glycolic acid toner, and a niacinamide serum. Each handles a different part of the problem.
Why One Product Usually Isn't Enough
Acne isn't a single problem. Oil collects inside the pore, dead skin traps it there, and the inflammation that follows leaves marks lasting months after the breakout heals.
Most treatments address one of those. That's why people cycle through washes without much changing — not because the products were bad, but because they were only ever solving a third of it.
The Three Products
Acne Control Cleanser — 2% Salicylic Acid · 237ml · Rs. 2,000
Works inside the pore · morning and evening
Salicylic acid is a BHA — oil-soluble, so it dissolves into sebum and reaches inside the pore rather than working only on the surface. That's what makes it the right choice for blackheads and congestion.
At 2%, the maximum available over the counter, but gentle enough for twice-daily use. Harsh washes strip the skin, which triggers more oil and makes things worse over a few weeks.
Super Charged 10% Niacinamide Serum · 30ml · Rs. 1,720
Oil production and marks · every morning
Niacinamide regulates how much sebum your skin makes rather than removing what's already there. It also calms redness around active breakouts and fades the dark marks left behind.
The most widely tolerated active in skincare — it conflicts with almost nothing, which makes it a sensible first step.
Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution · 250ml · Rs. 2,000
On the surface · 2 to 4 evenings a week
Glycolic acid is an AHA — water-soluble, working on the skin's surface. It clears the dead cell buildup that traps oil in the first place, and fades post-acne marks over time.
Used alongside the cleanser, that's genuine AHA and BHA coverage — surface and pore level, with each acid doing what the other can't.
Which Should You Start With?
| Your concern | Start with |
|---|---|
| Blackheads and congestion | 2% Salicylic Acid Cleanser |
| Oily skin, enlarged pores | 10% Niacinamide Serum |
| Dark marks after breakouts | Glycolic Acid Toner + Niacinamide |
| All of the above | Acne Treatment Bundle — Rs. 6,037 |
If you're starting from nothing, the cleanser is the single most useful product here. Add the others once your skin has settled.
How to Build the Routine
Every morning: cleanse → niacinamide → moisturizer → SPF
2–4 evenings a week: cleanse → glycolic acid toner → wait 3–5 minutes → moisturizer
Other evenings: cleanse → moisturizer
Add one product at a time. Introducing three actives at once is the most common way people irritate their skin and give up. Start with the cleanser, add niacinamide after a week, and bring in the toner from week three.
Moisturizer isn't optional. Stripped skin produces more oil to compensate — which is why aggressive routines often make breakouts worse. Use a non-comedogenic moisturizer after every step.
The Part Nobody Mentions
Around weeks two to four, breakouts sometimes increase temporarily. Exfoliating acids speed up cell turnover, which brings congestion that was already forming to the surface sooner than it would have arrived on its own.
It usually settles by week six. If things are still worsening after that, it's more likely irritation than purging — reduce the toner to twice weekly and see whether it improves.
This is the point most people stop. Knowing it's coming is most of the battle.
Sunscreen Matters More Here
Two reasons. Glycolic acid increases UV sensitivity for days after each use. And post-acne marks darken with sun exposure, taking far longer to fade without daily protection.
Both SPF 50 and SPF 70 are non-comedogenic and won't add to congestion.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best acne face wash in Pakistan?
One with a real active, used gently, twice a day. Salicylic acid at 2% is the standard for acne-prone skin because it's oil-soluble and reaches inside the pore where blackheads form. Rs. 2,000 for 237ml here.
What is the best serum for acne?
Niacinamide, for oil regulation and calming inflammation. It won't clear existing blackheads on its own — that's the cleanser's job — but it reduces how much oil refills the pores. Rs. 1,720 for 30ml.
What is the best serum for acne scars?
For flat dark marks, niacinamide and glycolic acid together — one slows pigment transfer, the other clears pigmented surface cells. Raised or indented scarring is textural rather than pigmentary and needs clinical treatment; no serum resolves it.
Can I use salicylic acid and glycolic acid together?
Yes. The cleanser rinses off, so it doesn't conflict with the leave-on toner afterwards. They work at different levels — pore and surface.
Will this make me break out at first?
Possibly, in weeks two to four, as turnover speeds up. It typically settles by week six.
Do I need moisturizer if my skin is oily?
Yes. Oily skin that's stripped produces more oil to compensate, which is the cycle that keeps breakouts going.
Is this suitable for cystic acne?
These help with congestion, blackheads and surface breakouts. Persistent cystic or nodular acne usually needs prescription treatment — worth seeing a dermatologist rather than working through it over the counter.
How long until I see results?
Less oil within two weeks, fewer breakouts by weeks four to eight, and marks fading from around week eight. Consistency matters more than intensity.
