About Dry & Dehydration

Ceramide moisturizers and 2% hyaluronic acid for dry, tight or flaking skin. Three textures for three levels of dryness, from Rs. 875.

Dry or Dehydrated? They're Not the Same

This is the distinction that decides which product you need, and most people get it wrong.

Dry skin lacks oil. It's a skin type — you're born with it and it doesn't change much. It feels rough, looks flaky, and gets noticeably worse in winter. It needs lipids: ceramides, a richer texture, something that stays on the surface and slows water escaping.

Dehydrated skin lacks water. It's a condition, and anyone can have it — including oily skin. It feels tight but can still look shiny, and fine lines appear more obvious than usual. It needs humectants: hyaluronic acid, drawing water in and holding it there.

Plenty of people have both. If your skin is flaky and tight, you need something for each — which is why the serum and the moisturizer here work as a pair rather than alternatives.

Why Skin Loses Water

The skin barrier is built largely from ceramides — lipids that hold the surface together and slow water escaping. Levels drop with age, sun exposure, hot water and over-cleansing.

When ceramides are depleted, water leaves faster than the skin can replace it. That's why dry skin often feels tight again an hour after moisturising: the moisturiser added water but nothing repaired the thing that was meant to hold it in.

All three moisturizers here are built on ceramides and hyaluronic acid for that reason — one adds water, the other keeps it.

The Products

Oil Free Ultra Rich Moisturizing Cream · 237ml · Rs. 875

For dry and very dry skin · evenings, and mornings in winter

The richest texture in the range, and the cheapest product here. For skin that stays tight and flaky no matter what you apply — a lotion adds water but doesn't provide enough to hold it in overnight.

Doubles as an overnight mask on particularly dry nights, and works on hands, elbows and knees as well as the face.

Rapid Glow Hyaluronic Acid Serum — 2% · 30ml · Rs. 1,720

For dehydration · morning and evening

Multi-weight hyaluronic acid at 2%, the standard working concentration — hydrating at the surface and slightly below rather than sitting on top. It plumps fine dehydration lines, often visibly from the first application.

One detail matters more than any other: apply it to slightly damp skin and always seal it with moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid draws water from whatever's available — on bone-dry skin in dry air it can pull from deeper layers, which is the opposite of the point.

Oil Free Daily Moisturizing Lotion · 237ml · Rs. 2,000

For all skin types · morning and evening

The middle texture and the safe default. Light enough for morning use under sunscreen, substantial enough for evening. If your skin is dry in patches and normal elsewhere, this is the sensible single product.

Oil Free Moisturizing Lotion · 237ml · Rs. 2,000

For oily skin that feels tight · morning and evening

Dehydrated oily skin is more common than people expect — and when skin is short of water, it produces more oil to compensate. This adds hydration without adding oil, which is usually the missing step rather than another mattifying product.

What Makes Dryness Worse

  • Hot water. It strips lipids faster than any cleanser. Lukewarm only.
  • Foaming cleansers. Foaming agents dissolve oil, which is useful on oily skin and counterproductive on dry. A non-foaming cleanser is a bigger upgrade than most people expect.
  • Over-cleansing. Twice daily is the maximum. If your skin is very dry, water in the morning and a proper cleanse at night is often better.
  • Applying to dry skin. Moisturise while skin is still slightly damp — it holds far better.
  • Winter and air conditioning. Both pull moisture out of the skin continuously, which is why a lotion that worked in summer stops being enough.

How to Layer Them

Morning: gentle cleanse → hyaluronic acid on damp skin → moisturizer → SPF

Evening: cleanse → hyaluronic acid on damp skin → moisturizer

Order matters: hyaluronic acid attracts the water, moisturizer holds it in. Reversed, or with the serum left unsealed, most of the hydration evaporates within the hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best moisturizer for dry skin in Pakistan?
A ceramide-based cream rather than a lotion, used in the evening. Dry skin is typically short of ceramides, so replacing them addresses the cause rather than the symptom. The Ultra Rich Cream is Rs. 875 for 237ml.

What's the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?
Dry skin lacks oil and is a skin type you're born with. Dehydrated skin lacks water and is a temporary condition anyone can have, including oily skin. Dry skin needs ceramides and a richer texture; dehydrated skin needs hyaluronic acid.

Can oily skin be dehydrated?
Very often, yes — and when it is, it produces more oil to compensate. Skin that's shiny but feels tight is usually dehydrated rather than genuinely oily.

Why does my skin feel tight straight after moisturising?
Usually because the barrier is depleted. Adding water without repairing the lipids that hold it in means it evaporates quickly. Ceramides address that; humectants alone don't.

Should hyaluronic acid go on wet or dry skin?
Slightly damp, and always sealed with moisturizer afterwards. This is the most common mistake with hyaluronic acid, and getting it wrong can make dryness worse rather than better.

Why is my skin drier in winter?
Cold air holds less moisture and indoor heating removes more. Most people need a richer texture from November through February than they do in summer.

Do I still need sunscreen with dry skin?
Yes. UV damage degrades the barrier further, which worsens dryness over time. Both SPF 50 and SPF 70 are hydrating rather than drying.

Which cleanser should I use with dry skin?
A non-foaming one. The Hydrating Facial Cleanser is creamy and fragrance-free — foaming agents are usually what causes the tightness people blame on their moisturizer.
