What's In It

Ceramides are the lipids that make up much of the skin's barrier, and dry skin is typically short of them. That shortage is the reason dry skin loses water faster than it can replace it — so replacing the ceramides addresses the cause rather than just adding moisture on top.

Hyaluronic acid draws water into the surface. The ceramides then slow how fast it escapes. In a rich cream base, that combination holds through the night.

When a Lotion Isn't Enough

Dry skin loses water faster than it retains it, because the lipid barrier that slows that loss is depleted. A lightweight lotion adds water but doesn't provide much to hold it in — which is why skin can feel tight again an hour after moisturizing.

A richer cream creates more of an occlusive layer, slowing water loss through the night. That's why it's most useful as an evening product, and why it comes into its own in winter when cold air and indoor heating pull moisture out of the skin.

Which Texture Is Right for You?

All three Dermasation moisturizers share the same ceramide and hyaluronic acid base. Only the texture differs.

How to Use

Evening: apply generously after your cleanser, or after the Glycolic Acid toner on the nights you exfoliate.

Morning: if your skin is very dry, use it in the morning as well, under SPF. Apply sparingly if you wear makeup.

As an overnight mask: apply a thicker layer on particularly dry nights and leave it.

Apply to slightly damp skin — the hyaluronic acid has more water available to draw on.
