About Niacinamide

Niacinamide is the closest thing skincare has to a default. It does several things reasonably well rather than one thing dramatically, it conflicts with almost nothing, and it rarely irritates — which is why it's usually the right first active.

What Niacinamide Is

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3. Unlike acids, it doesn't exfoliate or remove anything — it works by signalling, changing how skin cells behave rather than stripping layers away.

That's why it's so well tolerated. There's no adjustment period, no purging, no photosensitivity, and no rest days needed.

What It Actually Does

  • Regulates sebum production. It reduces how much oil your skin makes rather than removing what's there — which is why it controls shine over weeks instead of hours.
  • Minimises the look of pores. Less oil means less stretching of the pore wall. Pores can't shrink, but they become noticeably less visible.
  • Fades dark spots. It interrupts the transfer of pigment from where it's made to the surface cells where it becomes visible.
  • Calms redness and the inflammation around active breakouts.
  • Strengthens the barrier, which is what makes it a good partner for retinol and acids.

Why 10%

Most clinical work on niacinamide sits between 2% and 5% for barrier and redness effects, with 10% used for sebum regulation and pigmentation.

Above 10%, evidence for added benefit thins out while reports of irritation increase. Products marketed at 15% or 20% are competing on the number rather than on results — more isn't better past the point where the receptor pathway saturates.

Products With Niacinamide

Super Charged 10% Niacinamide Serum · 30ml · Rs. 1,720

Formulated at 10%, for daily morning use. Suits oily, combination and acne-prone skin, and works alongside almost anything else in a routine.

Best for: oily skin, open pores, post-acne marks, redness

Niacinamide is also in the Foaming Facial Cleanser alongside ceramides and hyaluronic acid, and included in the Acne Treatment Bundle.

How to Use Niacinamide Serum

Three to four drops on clean skin, morning, before moisturizer and SPF. It can also be used in the evening — daily use is fine, and no rest days are needed.

Pairs well with: hyaluronic acid, ceramides, SPF, and — usefully — with retinol and glycolic acid, where it helps buffer irritation.

Vitamin C: the old advice that these cancel each other out has largely been set aside. Most people can use both. If your skin is reactive, use vitamin C in the morning and niacinamide at night.

What to Expect

Timeline What you'll notice

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the niacinamide serum price in Pakistan?
Rs. 1,720 for 30ml at 10%. Imported equivalents typically run two to three times that, which is what makes daily use hard to sustain.

What is the best niacinamide serum in Pakistan?
Look for 10%. Higher percentages are marketed as stronger but increase irritation risk without matching benefit, and lower ones do less for oil and pigmentation.

What are the uses of a niacinamide serum?
Oil regulation, reducing the appearance of pores, fading dark spots and post-acne marks, calming redness, and strengthening the skin barrier. It's the most versatile single active in skincare.

How do I use niacinamide serum?
Three to four drops on clean skin in the morning, before moisturizer and sunscreen. Daily use is fine — unlike acids and retinol it needs no rest days.

Is niacinamide good for oily skin?
Yes — it's the most useful single product for it. It reduces sebum production rather than stripping oil, so shine improves over weeks rather than rebounding.

Can I use it with vitamin C?
Yes for most people. Separate them morning and evening if your skin is reactive.

Can I use it with retinol or glycolic acid?
Yes — both are good pairings. Niacinamide supports the barrier, which offsets the irritation those actives cause.

Does niacinamide cause purging?
No. It doesn't accelerate cell turnover, so there's no purging phase. If you're breaking out after starting it, something else in the routine is the likely cause.

How long until I see results?
Oil control in two to three weeks. Pores and pigmentation take eight to twelve.
